Frequently Asked Questions
Does Kidzalert require a smartphone?
No. Kidzalert does not require a smartphone. The alert will be heard from the alarm plugged into your cigarette lighter as you turn off the car.
My car does not have a 12V port (cigarette lighter).
Most cars do have a cigarette lighter. Even newer models have them tucked away. If your car truly does not have one, you can order from Amazon an adapter to connect to your USB port.
Will I still be able to charge my phone?
Yes. The alarm has a built in USB port to allow you to power your devices.
I need my 12v port to plug in my GPS.
Kidzalert should always remain plugged in. Removing it will risk not being protected when you need it. Many cars have more than one 12v port. Sometimes it is in the center console or in the rear of the vehicle. If there are none available, you can purchase a 12v splitter on Amazon.
Does the alarm work for Doona?
Yes. The alarm can also work for a car seat that is removed from the car with the baby still inside. The sensor disc can be placed on the center of the base where the car seat will put pressure on the sensor disc while allowing the car seat to click in. If that is not an option, the sensor disc can be placed in the car seat. Please note: If the car seat with the baby inside is removed while the car is running, the alarm will remain active and alert you when you eventually turn off the car.
Can I use the car seat in two different cars with Kidzalert?
Each car needs its own alarm. The sensor disc is programmed to only one alarm. To use the car seat in two cars, you can use the sensor disc from each alarm in the car seat.
Will I hear the alarm outside of the car?
The alarm is designed to alert you while you are still in the car. Although it may be heard outside the car, it will not be loud enough to annoy people.
What if I leave my kid in the car for a few minutes?
